The Youth Alliance team played only their fourth game in four months on Wednesday as they travelled to Scarborough.
Town started the better of the sides creating numerous chances in the first ten minutes, Joe Naver put through by Joe Gosling only for Navier to drag his shot wide.
The pair swapped roles for Town's next chance as Navier's cross was acrobatically met by Gosling whose effort was headed off the line.
Gosling then had another chance to score when he was first to Harry Lee's ball over the top only to have his shot on the angle blocked off the line for a second time.
Scarborough replied with their striker beating Alfie Storey in the Town goal to the ball only for his header to go over the bar.
Town had two more big chances before the break. First Sam Clothier put Navier through, he rounded the goalkeeper but could only find the side netting.
Gosling once again had a chance to put Town in front when Gabe Hopkinson back heeled a Navier cross into the path of Gosling, but his shot drifted agonisingly wide of the goal.
Scarborough did have the ball in the net, but an offside flag ruled the goal out.
Town had the last chance of the first half as a Gosling free kick was met by the head of Lee but he could only direct his header past the post.
The second half started as frantic as the first with Scarborough first going close with a shot just missing the far post.
Town replied when a Hopkinson shot was blocked, the rebound fell to Clothier whose volley from eight yards went just over the bar.
Storey was called into action when a free kick was headed goal bound, Town's keeper on hand to tip the ball over the bar.
As the first goal still eluded both teams, Gosling picked the ball up and after beating three players hit his shot just wide of the post.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 85th minute by Scarborough as their freekick was glanced in just inside the six-yard box.
1-0 it finished and as entertaining as the game was, Town made to rue missed chances.
