U21s 0-3 Tadcaster i2i Orange

28/01/20

Following tough few weeks, the U21s were looking forward to home comforts against mid-table Tadcaster Albion i2i Orange, which on paper was going to be a tight game but one they were more than capable of getting a result from.

Within the first minute, striker Gabe Humphries had the first chance of the game as he drove into the oppositions box, a push in the back knocked him off balance as he looked to finish, and the ball rolled into the keepers’ hands. His honesty costing Town an early lead.

Town kept the pressure on for most of the half, but it was the visitors who took the lead with a swift counter attack down the left-hand side. As Town dropped off tackles the visiting forward found himself one on one with the Jack Wade who stood up well to make the save, only for the ball to land at the feet of one of the i2i players to finish.

As the half drew to a close the game was finely poised with Town shading the possession, but behind on the score board.

Town started the second half all guns blazing but chance after chance was squandered as the visitors rode their luck.

For all the home sides pressure and quality build up play the final product was lacking for a second week in a row.

The visitors finally broke the shackles towards the end of the half with two goals to break the Town hearts, the first from a rare lapse in concentration from the back line, before one final nail in the coffin as Town pushed to get something from the game.

Another frustrating night for the young Town lads who ultimately paid the price for a lack of quality in front of goal.

Next week the U21s welcome Tadcaster Albion i2i Blue to The CNG Stadium hoping that February will bring a change in fortunate after a barren month on the points front.
