PDC Travel to Doncaster Rovers

20/01/20

Last week our U8/9 and U14/15 Player Development Centre teams travelled to the Keepmoat Stadium for the experience of taking on Doncaster Rovers.

Doncaster 2-19 Town U8/9s

Town travelled to the fantastic Keepmoat Stadium on Friday evening to face a young Doncaster team. Town were quick out the blocks with George Lamb grabbing the first goal of the evening, this was to set town up for the evening. Freddie White was on hand to double the lead, which was quickly followed by George’s second of the game. Through some great build up play starting from the back Isaiah Prosper was able to finish off two great moves to give town a 5-0 lead.

Doncaster started to grow into the game with some great possession, but they would be caught out with Archie Davy making it 6-0. Doncaster scored a great team goal, but this wouldn’t dampen towns spirit with Archie scoring from an excellent corner from Bobby Haveron. White got his second of the game through some great pressure up front. Jacob Tiller was playing further forward in a midfield role, which results in two quick fire goals. Prosper and White would both get their hattricks in quick succession.

Doncaster started to tire in the final 15 minutes with Town playing some great footballer. Lamb and Davy soon got their hattricks to make it 14-2. With Town now dominating Prosper and Haveron were next on the scoresheet which was soon followed by a great header from Davy, the smallest player on the pitch. In the final few minutes Lamb and Davy would finish off a great evening.

Doncaster Rovers Development 0 - 10 Town 14s/15s Academy

On a chilly January evening Town U14/15s Academy headed to South Yorkshire and the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Doncaster Rovers Development team.

From the get-go Town started positive, pressing the home side high up the pitch with great success and they didn’t have to wait long to take the lead with great work down the right hand side by Tom Addley, squaring the ball for Danny Wilson to finish at the back post.

Addley then got his name on the score sheet with a fine effort before Centre back Ben Green added a third with a powerful strike from distance. Town still had time to add a fourth before half time with a fine team goal started and finished by Joel Barker, slick passing once again cutting open the home side.

Following the introduction of Nathan Young and Joe Smith at half time Town looked to press home their superiority with Smith grabbing four second half goals, showing some calm, composed finishing in front of goal. This was followed by an excellent strike from the dangerous Young.  A Ben Green penalty rounded off proceedings and nothing more than Town deserved on the night.

Much to be pleased about for the Academy lads including excellent debuts in this age group for Harry Burland and the impressive Elliot Summer who gave the team a fantastic platform to build from midfield.

Squad: Josh Sharkey, Luke Plant, Alfie Lee, Ben Green, Will Sharman, Harry Burland, Elliot Summers, Joel Barker, Danny Wilson, Dylan Elliot, Tom Addley, Frank Greenwood, Alex Rennocks, Nathan Young, Joe Smith
