It was recently revealed that 18-year-old centre backs Dan Hartley and Harry Clark have signed non-contract terms with the club.
Both have been regulars with Josh Falkingham’s unbeaten U23 side this season, with Hartley also representing Tadcaster Albion and Clark Knaresborough Town Reserves.
The duo have impressed enough to become the first youth players to sign deals with the first team since Toby Lees and Marcus Day, and the first since Town have operated as a full time football club.
Hartley and Clark were both included in Saturday’s match day squad as Town travelled to Darlington in the FA Trophy and booked their place in the next round.
“I’m delighted for Dan and Harry, it’s fully deserved given the season they have been having.” Commented U23s Manager and first team Captain Josh Falkingham.
“Everyone around my U23s squad has been buzzing since we found out.
“The aim is to get players progressing through into the first team and hopefully this will give the lads that hunger, desire and taste for more.
“Attitude wise they have been first class and that’s the standard we set from first team down through the youth teams.
“You have got to have that attitude, hunger and desire to be here and be involved in the first team, it is amazing to see the commitment and willing from my lads to make that step up.
“Harry and Dan’s success gives everyone through the Town youth set up something to aspire to and hopefully there’s more to come.”
Earlier this season we spoke to both Dan and Harry about their time at Town and what they hope to achieve at the club.
