Ladies Football Update

04/08/19

These are exciting times at Harrogate Town AFC and we have great expectations for the coming season at every level.

Let’s start with the Ladies first team. The arrival of Beth Davies (ex-Leeds United) and Rosie Gill (ex-Bradford City), alongside the return of key first team players Becky Wilson and Lindsey Whitton means the first team go into this season with their strongest squad ever.

We are also delighted to have retained the services of our Captain Grace Foyer and top scorer Sophie Tinson.
The recruitment of Ryan Smith, our very own version of SAS hero Ant Middleton, to manage the pre-season fitness campaign, will ensure the girls start this season firing on all cylinders.

A date for everyone’s diary - the recent Women’s FA Cup Draw has given us a mouth-watering tie with local rivals Wetherby Athletic – all roads lead to the Wetherby Ings on Sunday 1st September!

Our Development team are likewise expected to improve on last season’s 4th position in the North Riding Premier League. With a little more experience under their belts, and the addition of a couple of experienced new players, our hope is that our Development girls will be pushing for promotion  by the season end.

At the younger end, our Player Development Centre (PDC) continues to thrive with registrations for next season at an all-time high. We are very fortunate to have a group of talented girls who are passionate about the game, have excellent technique, and a great attitude.

Consequently, we have decided to launch a Football Academy for PDC girls who demonstrate exceptional ability.

We will run the Academy at U15 and U13 Age groups to begin with alongside a games programme which will challenge them at the highest level, whilst enabling them to continue their development at grass roots level.

Here’s to the new season – bring it on!
