From PDC to Academy – Alfie Lee and Cadarn Taylor move up the ranks

25/03/22

Alfie Lee and Cadarn Taylor have become the first players to progress from our Player Development Centre to our Academy.

The duo will join up with our Category 4 set-up for the 2022/23 season, based at West Riding FA along with our first team.

As part of their two year football scholarship Alfie and Cadarn will be competing for our Academy in their second season in the EFL Youth Alliance North East, while accessing education delivered by the LFE (League Football Education) before leaving with a BTEC qualification

Alfie has been at the club since joining at U12 level and plays predominantly in central midfield, getting on the ball and controlling the game as much as possible.

“It’s a proud moment.” Admitted Dad Phil.

“He has made a lot of sacrifices along the way to get here, he first joined the PDC to get some extra, high quality coaching and that has really added to what he learned at grassroots level and helped him develop as a player."

Cadarn joined the club after a successful trial for Josh Walsh’s U17 side and can play in central defence or midfield.

“Josh Walsh has always got the best out of me, he has driven me to get better technically, but also off the ball.” Explained Taylor.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity, it’s a boyhood dream for everyone really, I’m happy to be in this position and it will hopefully get the best out of me technically.”
